The Amber Room
The Amber Room is one of the top attractions of St Petersburg. It is the jewel of the Catherine Palace and one of the most famous interiors created in the 18th century. The history of the Amber Room is mysterious from the very beginning and can be considered as an unusual symbol of relations between Russia and Germany
The Amber room was created in Prussia as a gift to Peter the Great and during the World War II it was taken by Nazis. The Amber Room was installed again in Catherine's Palace at 2003 during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg. It was recreated by modern restores with the great patience and skills of restorers unique interior1 has been recreated.
Catherine's Palace
Catherine's Palace is the former summer residence of three Russian Empresses - Catherine I, Elizabeth I and Catherine the Great. Built in 18th century in baroque style the palace was totally destroyed during the World War II and lately restored. The palace is extremely rich decorated. The world famous Amber room is situated in the palace.
Catherine's Park
Catherine's park is situated at Tzarskoye selo . In former times Tsarskoe Selo was a favorite country residence of the imperial family and their guests spent summertime and entertained themselves. Nowadays it is one of the most famous and most visited suburbs of St. Petersburg
The palace and park of Tsarskoye Selo form the amazing ensemble which is one of the best monuments of the world landscape art of the XVIII-XX centuries. There are about 100 different sculptures and pavilions, monuments and bridges on the territory of the park. The best time to visit is in the summer, when the weather is good, or in the golden autumn season.
