The cathedral is named after the icon of Vladimirskaya Icon of the Mother of God, the defender of the Russian land. Many historians believe that it is thanks to this icon that the temple has been preserved to this day. The Vladimirskiy Cathedral is famous for the fact that it was often visited by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, who lived nearby.

The Cathedral of St Andrew was comissioned by Peter the Geat and but finished 70 years later in 1780 ( arch Vist). The most famous attraction of the Cathedral of St. Andrew is a 17-meter three-tier carved wooden iconostasis - one of the oldest in St. Petersburg. Andreevsky cathedral is still functioning as an orthodox church.
